Aillio Bullet – The Holy Grail Of Home Roasters

Specialty coffee is already a niche interest...

but once you hit a certain level not one coffee enthusiast or hobbyist hasn’t considered roasting their own. Of course the options out there for home roasting are as broad as they are for everything else in coffee, and you can spend as much or as little as you’d like, but at the top end of home roaster food chain, is the Scandinavian designed and aptly named Aillio Bullet.

If you follow me on Instagram you’ve likely been seeing it pop up here and there in reels over the last few months. Over that time I’ve roasted about 50 batches on a few different coffees, developed some nice profiles, gave it a deep clean, and dug into its user experience from hardware, to software. And now I’ve finally decided I’ve got enough to say about it to put it into a full video. So today I’ll be breaking down my experience with the Aillio Bullet from its workflow to its shortfalls and everywhere in-between, so let’s get to it.

Finally watched your video – good work. It’s pushing me over the edge to buy the bullet. How are you venting your Bullet? I am wondering if I can use a Bullet inside under a range hood that vents outside.

I used mine mostly on my porch, but I did roast indoors and got a small inline fan and some venting from Amazon that kicked the smoke out of the window. I do think an efficient range hood and a small tube to help it not dissipate too much into the room would be fine for indoor roasting.
