It's officlally Peppermint Mocha...
season so I figured it's time to break out this recipe. It's by far my favorite seasonal coffee drink, and as I say on most of these recipe videos I don't drink flavored coffees often. It's also one of the easiest as far as recipes go, especially specialty coffee quality wise. Just make some mocha sauce, add peppermint extract and you're ready to rock and roll. If you're ready to dive in hit play on the video above, and just in case the ingredients and the instructions are below.
Ingredients:
- 8 oz. of filtered water
- 200 grams of sugar
- 200 grams of cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- (optional) 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- Peppermint Extract - Amount to taste
Mix the water, salt, sugar, and cocoa together in a saucepan until smooth. Add the peppermint extract (and vanilla if used) at this point. Mix and taste test. Stir for another 2-4 minutes until its all sufficiently smooth, and at or near boiling. Wait for it to cool, then pour it to whatever you're going to store it in. Keep refrigerated and discard any unused portion after two weeks.
