Damn Fine Tutorial: Latte Art Edition – The Standard Swan

When I think of Swans...

I think of that scene in Billy Madison.  When I started progressing in latte art the Swan seemed like such a technical and unapproachable pour.  Yet, as I began to become more and more consistent with my milk texture and understanding the dynamics of flow it really came pretty quickly.

Like all the other pours before it, the Swan requires you to have the building blocks of simpler pours to make it work.  The most similar design to this one is the classic Rosetta. Using that as the base for the Swan is key.  Then creating the wing, neck, and head are the pieces of the puzzle that need to be put together.  It's all about building the muscle memory.  Repetition and watching the pour many times has helped me put it together, and I'm sure it'll help you too.
