Coffee Recipes – Vietnamese Egg Coffee

I'll be happy if...

I never see the Dalonga coffee ever again.  As a fan of all things coffee I was open to it. Yet the constant inundation of something that became popular via a platform as cringy as Tik Tok just isn't something I can get behind.  Plus pumping out videos about it purely to chase the trend for views is outside of what I'm all about.  Lastly, and more importantly, I think there is a better drink with a similar look that doesn't get the same amount of love, egg coffee.

Now I know at first glance this sounds awful.  But whipping together egg yolks and sweetened condensed milk creates a lovely silky textured foam.  That foam sits on the surface of your coffee (I used a Moka Pot) and can be enjoyed in layers, or stirred together.  The inherent bitterness of coffee mixed with the sweet velvety texture of the foam makes for the perfect balance. But don't take my word for it, try it out for yourself.

In this video I'll be going over how to make egg coffee like a pro.  Remember, when consuming raw eggs there can be a risk for foodborne illness. So proceed only if you're okay with that.  But if you've ever had medium rare steak, or a sunny side up egg it's basically the same risk.

Ingredients

  • Two Egg Yolks
  • One Tablespoon of Condensed Milk
  • Concentrated Coffee
