Just a few short days ago...
winter officially began and I feel a bit torn about it. I do really love the Holiday season, but I'm not a big fan of cold weather. Yeah, I do live in San Diego, so winter isn't nearly as "wintery" or "cold" as other places, but I still crave those hot Holiday bevies. Last year I showed ya'll how to make my favorite winter classic, the basic and delicious Peppermint Mocha, but this year I'm kicking it up a notch or two. I set out to make something with a traditional flavor, but with a barista twist. Many of you have likely had a nice cup of hot buttered rum at some point, so I decided to put a bit of a coffee nerd funk to it and make a hot buttered latte.
It's a pretty simple recipe that makes some delicious concentrate that you can drop directly into espresso, mix into some half and half as a creamer for some drip coffee, or my personal favorite, steam it into some milk for a delicious hot buttered latte. If you feel so inclined, you can even add in some rum to relive a bit of those nostalgic vibes. In the end hot buttered lattes are fun for the whole family, or just you. You'll get no judgement from me on that one.
