Flat burr grinders get all the glory...
and often are on top of many barista's wishlists. But the humble conical shouldn't be counted out, and one that's recently caught my eye is the new Varia VS3. On paper it's a lot like many of the other grinders that have hit the home coffee scene in recent year; meaning it's built on a low-retention, single-dosing platform. Yet, there are some things that set it apart from the pack, like its compact, modern, and minimalist design, full metal body, and on top of all that an affordable price tag (relatively speaking).
So, as you maybe guessed by now, the Varia VS3 is a conical burr grinder, claiming a "zero retention focus", and a "refined user experience", on top of precision 20 micron adjustments. Thus far, it all sounds pretty good, and considering how popular its become on social media I figured I had to get my hands on one. Spoiler alert; I did. So in this video I'll be digging deep into the Varia VS3, its notable features, performance, downsides to find out how this new addition to the all-around coffee grinder lives up to the expectations of an already crowded market segment.
So hit play on the video above and let's brew this!
